James Holmes

April 29, 1948 – July 24, 2024

Graveside services for James Holmes, 76, of Sallisaw, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Gibson under the direction of Agent & Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.

Mr. Holmes was born on April 29, 1948, in Princeton, Ky., to Charles Leonard Holmes and Vina (Camplin) Holmes. He died on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, in Fort Smith, Ark.

He was a long-haul truck driver and a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his spouse, Ruth Ann McCleod of the home; two sons, John Holmes and Scott Holmes both of Sallisaw; one daughter, Shawnna and Joel Sallee of Houston; six grandchildren; and other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Tommy McCleod; one sister, Iretta; and two brothers, Charles Holmes and George Holmes.
