KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Five members of the Vian Wolverines age 10-and-younger baseball team, Tripp Sumpter, Henry Sullivan, Cooper King, Bronc Sumpter and Laken Pack, represented the area on Team Oklahoma in the USSSA National All State Championship Tournament. This tournament brings ball players across each state together to challenge the best from other states.
The five Vian players were selected for Team Oklahoma after the Wolverines finished as the state runner-up in the age 9-and-younger USSSA State Championship last season.
Team Oklahoma finished the tournament 3-2-1 after beating Arizona 16-5, California 7-5 and USSSA South 10-8, but falling to USSSA Central 7-3 and Arizona 8-0 as well as battling back to tie with Indiana at 5-all. Indiana went on to win the tournament, with Arizona finishing third. Pack led the team with runs scored, followed immediately by Sullivan. Both Bronc Sumpter and Tripp Sumpter held their opponents to zero runs in their respective appearances on the mound, and King was brought in to pitch in two high pressure situations as he only allowed a run in his 3.2 innings pitched.
