WELEETKA — The Gore Lady Pirates split their first two games of last weekend’s Weleetka Tournament, rallying past the tournamenthost Weleetka Lady Outlaws 5-4 but losing 6-0 to Porum.
Saturday’s games were rained out, but Gore coach Michael Randolph said the final day of action in the tournament is going to try to be rescheduled, but a make-up date has not been set as of press time.
In Gore’s win over Weleetka, the Lady Pirates (1-1) walked off the Lady Outlaws as Gore rallied from a 4-3 deficit as Ricki Huckbay hit an RBI single to tie the game and Sophie O’Connor hit a sacrifice fly for the game-winner.
For the game, O’Connor was 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs batted in and a run scored, Emily Daily doubled and scored twice and River Shoemake doubled with an RBI and a run scored for Gore.
Cheyenne Davidson (1-1) got the win, pitching four innings with six strikeouts.
In Gore’s loss to Porum, Porum pitcher Leia Johnson threw a one-hitter.
A single run in the second inning, a threerun third inning and a two-run fourth inning put the Lady Panthers ahead 6-0.
Shoemake’s single was the only offense the Lady Pirates could muster against Johnson.
Davidson took the loss, despite fanning five batters in four innings.
The Lady Pirates were rained out of the season- opening three-way at Wilson (Henryetta) with Graham-Dustin on Aug. 12. Those games have yet to be rescheduled.
