A Braggs man has been charged with grand larceny in Sequoyah County District Court after a trailer he allegedly sold to another individual was found to be stolen, belonging to Gore Public Schools.
The charge was filed on July 31 against Jarrard Poteete, 30, and a warrant was issued for his arrest the same day, according to court records. His bond has been set at $10,000.
Sequoyah County Sheriff ’s deputy Galen Irvin said on July 30 he received a tip that a possible stolen flat bed trailer was seen behind a business in Webbers Falls.
Irvin and Investigator Dwayne Frizzell, along with Muskogee County authorities met at the location where they reported spotting a trailer matching the description as one that claimed he’d purchased the trailer for $350 a little over a week ago from Poteete.
The business owner said Poteete had sold him the trailer after Poteete had torn up another trailer that belonged to the business owner, according to the probable cause affidavit filed in the case. The business owner said Poteete tried to sell him an additional trailer but it was too small, so Poteete told him he was going to take it to Vian.
Photos of the stolen trailers were also posted on social media for sale, according to the affidavit. After showing one of the stolen trailer photos to an individual, the individual was able to confirm that the trailer had been stolen from their yard and that it belonged to Gore Public Schools.
The trailer was then released to the individual and a property receipt was given to the business owner.
