Funeral services for Curtis Dale Stephens, 87 of Vian, were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Sallisaw. Burial followed at Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Mr. Stephens was born on Nov. 9, 1936, in Drake Prairie, Sallisaw, to Madie Alice (Timmerman) Stephens and Ted Isaac Stephens. He died on Monday, Aug. 19, 2024, in Vian.
He was married to Sylvia Lou Ford on June 16, 1962, in Stilwell. She preceded him in death on Oct. 9, 2020.
He was a Retired Master Sergeant with Arkansas Air National Guard 188th Fighter Wing. He also worked as a disc jockey. He started the Sallisaw Youth League wrestling and football programs and was an umpire and coach in every sport his children were involved.
Survivors are two daughters, Lee Ann Parks and Tim and Kimberly Spears and Larry, all of Vian; one son, Kurt Wade Stephens and Julia of Broken Arrow; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Steve Stephens and Joan of Cabot, Ark.; two sisters, Joyce Stephens of Claremore and Connie Hawkins and Steve of Columbus, Ga.; and several other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Pat Lee.
Pallbearers were James Branham, Odell Branham, Colton Thompson, Keith Darcy, Joey Johnson and Jon Parks.
