Gore Lady Pirates gets Riverside Conference wins over Webbers Falls, Cameron-Arkoma

It was not quite as busy a softball week for the Gore Lady Pirates last week, but it was a profitable one as they won both Riverside Conference games they played — beating their cross-Arkansas River rival Webbers Falls Lady Warriors 15-3 on Thursday after routing Cameron- Arkoma 14-4 on Aug. 19.

In the win over Webbers Falls, the Lady Pirates (3-1) put away the game early as after they took a 1-0 lead in the opening inning, Gore scored eight runs in the second inning to up the advantage to 9-0.

For the game, Ricki Huckbay doubled with three runs batted in and two runs scored, Peyton Curran doubled with two RBIs and a run scored and River Shoemake hit an inside-thepark grand-slam home run for Gore.

Cheyanne Davidson (3-1) got the win, fanning five batters in six innings.

In the victory over the co-op Cameron-Arkoma team, the Lady Pirates trailed 1-0 in the first inning, but they scored three runs in the first inning and five runs in the second inning for an 8-1 lead after two innings.

For the game, Sophie O’Connor was 2-for-2 with a double, three runs scored and two runs batted in for Gore.

Davidson got the win, striking out four batters in four innings.
