The Webbers Falls Lady Warriors picked up their first victory of the 2024 fast-pitch softball season as they outlasted the Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs 11-7 on Aug. 20 at Eual Carter Sports Complex.
That proved to be the Lady Warriors only in for last week as they lost to their cross-Arkansas River rival Gore Lady Pirates 15-3 in Riverside Conference game on Thursday afternoon at Eual Carter Sports Complex.
Friday’s home Riverside Conference game with McCurtain was canceled due to the Lady Bulldogs not having enough players. Webbers Falls coach Kera Carter said the game has not been rescheduled as of press time.
In the win over Okmulgee, The Lady Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Lady Warriors cut the deficit to 2-1 after an inning. However, Webbers Falls put away the game with a six-run second inning and a two-run third inning to take a commanding 9-2 lead after three innings.
The Lady Bulldogs got to within three runs at 10-7 in the sixth inning but got no closer.
For the game, Bridgette Baer was 4-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and two runs batted in, Katie Frazier was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, Bentley Ward was 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored, Karla Bonilla was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, Peyton Hobbs was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored and Lextyn Chappell tripled with an RBI and a run scored for Webbers Falls.
Rhilee Jones (1-4) got her first win of the season, striking out four batters in seven innings.
In the loss to Gore, the Lady Pirates put away the game early as after they took a 1-0 lead in the opening inning, Gore scored eight runs in the second inning to up the advantage to 9-0.
In defeat, Baer was 2-for-2 with a triple and an RBI, while Ricki Frazier doubled and scored once for the Lady Warriors. Jones suffered the loss.
