Central girls fourth, Webbers Falls Lady Warriors seventh at Gore Invitational; Pirates finish eighth

The Central Lady Tigers were fourth and the Webbers Falls Lady Warriors were seventh in last Thursday’s Gore Invitational cross country meet, which took place at the Steve Owens Sports Complex.

The Lady Tigers scored 117 points. For Central, Cambree Bair had the highest finish as she was 20th (8:01.36), followed by Paris Campbell in 22nd place (8:02.41), Scarlett Harrison in 26th place (8:13.92), Xhayla Mosby was 44th (9:04.91), Rileigh Ford was 51st (9:27.59) and Gracie Thompson was 59th (10:28.07).

The Lady Warriors scored 154 points. Cheyanne Herrier made the top 10 as she finished sixth (7:33.1). As for other Lady Warriors, Peyton Shanks was 53rd (9:38.79), Katie Frazier was 54th (9:41.99), Kailey Mannon was 66th (11:12.01) and Emily Coatney was 69th (11:20.9).

The host Lady Pirates had three runners hit the course. Rayleigh Moore was 25th (8:10.54), Amelia White was 29th (8:20.73) and Gracie Bruce was 61st (10:39.46).

The host Pirates were eighth in the high school boys race with 202 points. Burr Jaynes was Gore’s highest finisher as he was 40th (15:02.17). Cain Cooper was 60th (15:58.9), Cruz Ward was 63rd (16:08.35), Colton Frye was 75th (17:49.22), Eli Munson was 83rd (18:42.41), Waylon Gilley was 84th (18:45.58), Benson Hunt was 90th (19:54.27) and Nash Thouvenel was 94th (21:34.39).

Two other local runners ran in the high school boys race. Webbers Falls Warrior Joseph Moore was 79th (18:01.11), while Central’s Kyle Reed was 87th (19:05.2).

The Central Lady Tigers won the junior high team title with 21 points, thanks to Sara Williams (7:04.98) and Sadie Huff (7:18.52) coming in 1-2 in the individual standings. Emma Baggs was fifth (7:48.74) to be the third Lady Tiger to crack the top 10. As for other Lady Tigers, Graye Riggs was 11th (8:24.21), Olivia Black was 13th (8:30.28), Shelby Jones was 14th (8:32.61) and Sailor Bauer was 32nd (9:24.89).

The host Lady Pirates had a duo compete as Taylor Kinion was 19th (8:46) and Ashlynn Munson was 23rd (8:52.66).

Webbers Falls also had two runners run in the junior high girls race as Madalyn Belknap was 41st (10:23.86) and Dakota Wolf was 42nd (10:29.41).

The junior high boys division saw several local runners. Gore’s Wyatt Chitty was 16th (7:43.07), Gore’s Cale Cox was 18th (7:55.48), Central’s Wyatt Parker was 19th (8:16) and Webbers Falls runner Chase Kunkel was 22nd (8:52.74).

The elementary boys division had the majority of the local runners.

The Vian Wolverines won the team title with 32 points, finishing ahead of host Gore which was in second place (61). Central was fourth (96 points).

The Wolverines had five of their seven runners place in the top 10. Cooper King was third (7:29.51), Henry Sullivan was fourth (7:31.43), Laken Pack was seventh (7:41.17), Kody Perry was eighth (7:42.46) and Creed Prior was 10th (7:50.38). Rounding things out for Vian, Jensen Lamar was 13th (7:54.85) and Tripp Sumpter was 14th (7:57.8) as all seven Wolverines finished in the top 20.

The host Pirates had two top-10 finishers as Bryson Franco was runner-up (7:15.4) and Eli Montgomery was sixth (7:33.13). Two others finished in the top 20 as Quinn Montgomery was 15th (7:58.25) and Ian Munson was 19th (8:11.1). Tripp Smith was 23rd (8:23.72), Easton Lewis was 36th (9:01.6) and Thorn Cearley was 58th (9:57.88).

For the Tigers, Mayson Baker made the top 10 as he was ninth (7:48.02). Daxton Moldrup was 17th (8:06.22), Koleman Edwards was 21st (8:19.01), Kash Poindexter was 25th (8:32.6), Jackson Foster was 37th (9:05.71), Tucker Rogers was 40th (9:14.07) and Blake Moldrup was 41st (9:14.35).

The Gore and Webbers Falls runners will hit the course next at next Friday’s Braggs/ Camp Gruber Invitational, while Central’s squads will run in next Friday’s Carl Albert State College/Poteau Invitational beginning at 9:30 a.m. in Poteau.
