Funeral services for French Wildcat, 91, of Vian, were held at 12 noon on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024, at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw.
Burial followed at 2:30 p.m. at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Gibson under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Mr. Wildcat was born on May 21, 1933, to Enola Wildcat and Polly Anna Sam. He died on Aug. 20, 2024.
He was married to Levada Babala (Smith) Wildcat in October 1957 in Los Angeles, Calif. She preceded him in death on Feb. 18, 2022.
Corporal French Wildcat served his country with honorable service in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and then worked at Hastings Indian Hospital in medical records. He was the church treasurer at the church he and Levada attended in Marble City. He enjoyed attending Calvary Indian Baptist in Tahlequah.
Survivors are a daughter, Veda McPeak and Jerry of Warner; son, Victor Wildcat and Tammy of Muskogee; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, L.B. Wildcat and Sue of Tahlequah; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Billy, Enola Jr. and Windeagle Wildcat and Wanda Welene Chianna and Anna Faye (Wildcat) Speaks.
