CANADIAN — The Webbers Falls Warriors kept their perfect season intact to this point after blanking the Canadian Cougars 50-0 on Thursday night.
Webbers Falls quarterback Brutus Robinson accounted for four of the team’s six touchdowns. He scored on TD runs of 2 and 1 yards, while throwing two touchdown passes — a 9-yarder to Thadan Yandell and a 25-yarder to Trysten Wilbourn.
Aiden Turley scored twice on TD runs of 1 and 3 yards, while Austin Barger scored on a 1-yard touchdown run after the play before he rambled 50 yards to the Canadian 1-yard line.
Passing, Robinson was 9-of-14 for 247 yards and two TDs.
“We threw it pretty good,” said Webbers Falls coach Trent Holt about his team’s improvement on its passing game. The Warriors (2-0) only led 8-0 after a quarter, but put the game into mercy-rule status with a 30-point third quarter.
The Warriors will get its first tough test of the season when they welcome the Keota Lions to Smokey Cox Stadium for a 7 p.m. contest this Friday night.
“That will be our first really good test,” Holt said. “They’re pretty solid. They always are. They’re always physical, and they always have some athletic kids. It will be a good test. I hope we can pass the test, but I hope we can pass the ball as well.”
