MOUNDS — The Gore Pirates began District AI-3 play with a 2218 road victory over the Mounds Golden Eagles last Friday night.
The Pirates (3-1 overall, 1-0 in district play) saw quarterback Tate Brooksher threw two touchdown passes — a 43-yarder to Devon Mannon and a 32-yarder to Keiden Denton.
Gore’s other TD was a 58-yard touchdown run by Bladin McCartney. Cannon and McCartney each ran in a two-point conversion.
McCartney rushed for 196 yards and a touchdown, while Brooksher threw for 156 yards and two TDs.
“We got what we needed,” Gore coach Brandon Ellis said. “It could have been less stressful. Anytime you go 1-0 in district play, that’s a good thing.”
The Pirates will play their home district opener against Talihina at 7 p.m. this Friday at K.G. Horn Stadium.
