The Vian Wolverines kept their perfect season intact as they routed the Antlers Bearcats 48-0 last Friday night at St. John Stadium.
The Wolverines (5-0 overall, 2-0 in District 2AII-4 play) scored twice in the first quarter on a 36-yard touchdown run by Masyn Wright and a 29-yard TD pass from Cash Trammel to Jacob Brannick. Mikayah Mendoza hit both extra points for a 14-0 lead after the opening period.
The Wolverines put away the game with a 20-point second quarter as Wright scored on a 4-yard touchdown run and caught a 6-yard TD from Trammel. To end the half, Adoff Stahl returned an interception 90 yards for Vian’s third TD of the period that put Vian ahead 34-0 at halftime.
In the second half, in which there was a running click throughout, the Wolverines scored once in each period. Wright got a hat trick as he scored on a 43-yard TD pass from Trammel, while Tyson Murphy’s 15-yard touchdown run in the final period concluded the scoring.
The Wolverines will return to action with a district road game against Atoka at 7 p.m. next Friday at Atoka’s Phillips Field.
