Funeral services for Viola (Cantrell) Smithpeters, 91, of Sallisaw, were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024, at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw.

Burial followed at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Vian under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Mrs Smithpeters was born on Dec. 8, 1932, in Vian, to Lillian Leona (Brashears) Cantrell and Robert Lee Cantrell. She died on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, in Sallisaw.

She was married to Lindel L. “Pat” Smithpeters on Feb. 4, 1952. He preceded her in death on July 9, 2012.

She was a homemaker. Survivors are one daughter, Kathy Copeland and Jack of Sallisaw; two sons, Ralph Smithpeters and Sheryl of Elm Springs, Ark., and Greg Smithpeters and Sonda of Fayetteville, Ark.; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Orville D. Cantrell and Mari of Tulsa; and numerous other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Jack Copeland, II; her parents; four brothers, Vander, Don, Adrian and Wendell Cantrell; and one sister, Florene Ray.
