Cherokee Nation accepting Angel Project applications

The Cherokee Nation Angel Project is now accepting applications online through the Gadugi Portal until Oct. 25.

Eligible citizens must be registered on the tribe’s online Gadugi Portal, which can be accessed at https://gadugiportal. cherokee.org/. Select “Applications” from the top blue navigation bar, select “Angel Project” from the list of available programs, and after selecting the application, income guidelines will be provided.

“The Cherokee Nation has much to be grateful for, but we must also remember our Cherokee families who may be facing challenges this Christmas,” said Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. “We are proud to carry on this tradition each year. This program creates a profound impact, not only for these children but for their families as well, bringing hope and joy during the holiday season.”

The Cherokee Nation Angel Project assists Cherokee children, age 18 and under, who fall within low-income guidelines and reside within the Cherokee Nation Reservation. For each eligible child, $75 will be provided for their parent or guardian to purchase Christmas gifts.

Cherokee citizens who apply for the Angel Project must provide proof of income and residency, a photo ID, and Tribal citizenship cards for all children.

For assistance or questions, call 918-4535058 during normal business hours.

“Parents of Cherokee children who reside in the Reservation will now have the ability to purchase their children’s gifts for Christmas this year. As we transition to a new way of serving our citizens through the Gadugi Portal, we look forward to another successful Angel Project season,” said Sally Wilson, Angel Project coordinator.

The public can contribute to the Angel Project mission by visiting https://webapps. cherokee.org/Online-Giving/Donations/create and clicking “Angel Project” under the “Recipient” drop down menu.
