Jeremy Day (left), field representative with the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training, visited the Vian Police Department where Investigator Kevin Kirk taught a class on Understanding the Policing of Free Citizens covering the 1st, 4th, and 5th amendments. The class had students from several agencies, including both Oklahoma and Arkansas. “Through training comes understanding, understanding promotes communication, and communication builds relationships. This is the key to community policing and understanding one another. Very proud to have had this class put together by one of our own officers,” Vian Police Chief Mark Harkins said. “Great job, and thank you to everyone who came from all the jurisdictions.”
