Funeral services for Tommy “Thunder” Rhodes, 78, of Sallisaw, were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 25, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Sallisaw. Burial followed at Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Agent & Mallory-Martin Funeral Services of Sallisaw.
Mr. Rhodes was born on May 5, 1946, in Fort Smith, Ark. to Hazel (Pendergrass) Clough and Harold Edgar Rhodes. He died on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024, in Fort Smith.
He was a 1964 graduate of Sallisaw High School and U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked for the Oklahoma State Forest Division as a District Forest Ranger. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and attending car shows.
He married Sharon (Watts) Rhodes on April 4, 1970, in Sallisaw.
Survivors are his wife, Sharon; son, Grant Rhodes of Sallisaw; daughter, Sydney Miles and husband George of Tulsa; four grandchildren; one greatgrandchild; along with many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers: Joe, Phil, Mark, Reggie, and Mike Rhodes.
Pallbearers were Ryan Miles, Ethan Miles, Jeremy Rhodes, Clayton Rhodes, Gary Rhodes, Bo Byers, AJ Byers, and Preston Glover.
