Former Vian Patrol Supervisor Robert Johnson (right) was recognized on Dec. 2 after being nominated by Vian Police Chief Mark Harkins (left) as one of 44 officers across the state to be recognized with the inaugural State of Oklahoma Officer of the Year Award. Johnson was selected for the honor in March and presented by Harkins at a ceremony originated by Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond. “Robert recently left our department to pursue a career in the medical field,” Harkins said. “It was an honor to nominate Officer Johnson, however it is more of an honor to see him further his ability to help people from a medical standpoint. He excelled as a police officer and we know he will excel in the medical field. Thank you Officer Johnson for helping make Vian PD a better department the citizens of Vian can be proud of.”
