Oma Fae Seay, Vian’s hardest working woman and the face of Vian Mini Storage, is retiring.
“She has been the face of our business for the past 10 years,” current owners, Rob and Lisa Ridgeway said. “She has been loyal and dedicated. We couldn’t hardly even get her to take off for a vacation.”
Seay, 84, moved to Vian from Washington 65 years ago. She was married to the late James Seay and the couple had two sons, Scott Seay and the late Steve Seay.
Seay worked for James and Wanda Smith for 38 years, starting at Otasco, and in 1996 when the couple opened the mini storage, she went to work there as well. When the Ridgeways purchased the storage units from the Smiths around 2014, Seay came with the business.
“For the last eight months, Oma Fae has been transitioning to part-time, working three days a week,” Lisa said. “She has been training my sister, Donna Collins, to take her place.”
The Ridgeways said Seay’s dog for the past year, Ragnar, also comes to work with her and is part of the family, and loved by all who visits.
“We hope her family and friends will join us on Dec. 30 to honor Oma Fae and the work she has done here in Vian,” Lisa said. “Come celebrate with cake and punch.”
A retirement party and celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 30, at the business office, which is located at 814 N. Thornton.
