A loaded gooseneck trailer has been returned to its rightful owner east of Vian following an investigation by authorities.
Frankie L. Jones, 59, was arrested on Dec. 18 and charged with felony grand larceny and malicious injury to property under $1,000. He received a $5,000 bond and is now set to appear for a Jan. 8 arraignment with Associate District Judge Kyle Waters.
Vian Police Chief Mark Harkins reported that over the past week, police had been investigating a property crimes case involving a stolen gooseneck trailer loaded with a red iron building, scaffold, and Hobart electric welder.
“Through a joint effort between Investigator Kirk, Officer Taylor, and the property owner, a suspect was developed and a warrant was issued,” Harkins said.
The police chief said Vian Police went to a residence in Sequoyah County where they served the warrant on the suspect (Jones). Jones was then taken into custody and transported to the Sequoyah County detention Center.
“Once inside the jail, Jones was found to be in possession of a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue inside,” Harkins said.
“We are pleased to have returned all the stolen property to its owner and held the person responsible accountable,” he continued. “Great job to Investigator Kirk and Officer Taylor for their hard work on this case, and to the victim for their due diligence in helping make this arrest.”
Harkins said the stolen property was valued at about $22,000.
