HOWE — It was not a nice ending to the pre-Christmas Break portion of the season for the Vian High School basketball teams as they dropped a pair of Big 8 Conference road games to the host Howe squads on Dec. 17 at the Howe Gym.
The Lady Lions roared past the Lady Wolverines 69-19, then the Lions clawed the Wolverines 66-35.
In the girls’ game, the Lady Lions put away the game early as they jumped out to a 34-3 lead after a quarter.
In defeat, Halli Russell scored four points to lead the Lady Wolverines (1-3 overall, 0-1 in Big 8 Conference play), followed by Jaiden Soap, Rebel Simon and Eden Girty with three points each and Bostyn Rodgers, Blazi Dieter and Ailyah Tucker with two points apiece.
In the boys’ game, the Lions jumped out to a 20-4 lead and were never headed.
In defeat, Cash Trammel led the Wolverines (2-2 overall, 0-1 in Big 8 Conference play) with 10 points, followed by Jacob Brannick with six points, Masyn Wright, Trace Sanders and Michael Polecat with four points each, Ethan Pollock with three points and Cash Collins and Caden Brannick with two points apiece.
