VINITA — Several members of the Vian Wrestling Club earned medals at last Saturday’s Vinita Super Hornet Tournament.
Three members — Keaton Gregory (55 pounds, age 6-andyounger division), Dax Stewart (76, age 10-andyounger) and Carmello Hunter (110, age 10-and-younger novice division) — all were crowned champions.
Kaiden Hunter (43 pounds, age 6-andyounger division), Thomas Sandlin (58, age 8-and-younger division) and Maddison “Maddie” Turman (82, girls age 10-and-younger division) came in runners-up.
Finishing in third place were James Constant (90 pounds, age 8-and-younger novice division), Josie Constant (140, age 12-and-younger novice division) and Josh Constant (70, age 10-and-younger novice division).
Luke Sandlin (55 pounds, age 8-andyounger division), Harlea Lucas (67, girls age 10-and-younger division) and Zayn Vinson (73, age 10-and-younger division) each placed fourth.
Due to not enough coaches being available, the Vian Wrestling Club members will take this next weekend off.
As for the Vian high school and junior high wrestling teams, last week’s action was postponed due to Thursday’s snowstorm.
Vian had its home dual against Hulbert on Thursday at B.J. Traw Gymnasium and the Inola Tournament on Friday and Saturday snowed out.
However, Vian wrestling coach Garett Willis said there are attempts being made to reschedule the home dual with Hulbert.
