Two Vian High School wrestlers placed at last Saturday’s Catoosa Port Classic.
Garritt Hunt won the title at heavyweight for the Wolverines, while Maddison “Maddie” Turman was fourth at 115 pounds for the Lady Wolverines.
The Wolverines lost their road dual to Wyandotte 24-21 on Dec. 14.
Three wrestlers, Carlos Rautenberg, Lance Jordan and Kingston Lee, all won by forfeits, while Hunt won by decision for the Wolverines (2-1 this season in duals).
The Lady Wolverines got two wins against Wyandotte as Turman and Kye Barnes each won by pinfall.
The Wolverines will participate in their District 3A-6 Duals with host Tulsa Cascia Hall, Arkoma, Heavener, Oklahoma Christian School, Warner and Wyandotte beginning at 1 p.m. Thursday. The team with the best winloss record after each team wrestles everyone else will win the District Duals and qualify for the Class 3A Dual State Tournament, which will be Feb. 14-15 at Tulsa Union High School.
