The Webbers Falls Board of Trustees convened on Jan. 14 for their regular meeting, where they voted to hold a municipal election and approved several important financial expenditures.
The board took action on an upcoming 2025 municipal election, adopting Resolution 01-14-2025-01 to formally proceed with plans for the election.
Among the key decisions made during the evening, the trustees voted unanimously to approve the purchase of 12 new tires for the fire department trucks, authorizing an expenditure of $4,364.76 to S&S Hardware Inc.
Additionally, the trustees approved the payment of $2,443.41 for maintenance work done on Engine 1 by Emergency Apparatus Maintenance, ensuring that the town’s emergency response vehicles remain in top condition.
In another unanimous vote, the trustees green-lit a quote of $1,399 from Muskogee Overhead Door for the replacement of a city shop door, which will improve the facility’s security and functionality.
The meeting also touched on various ongoing community projects. Fire Chief Danny Haley reported that calls had been slow in recent weeks, and that the construction of a helicopter pad for emergency services is waiting for warmer weather to be completed.
City Maintenance updated the board on the successful takedown of Christmas lights and the recent burning of a large brush pile; while Code Enforcement had positive news as officers reported progress on the cleaning up a property on 5th Street.
Two agenda items regarding the leasing of local buildings were discussed, but no action was taken. The trustees considered leasing the museum building to Michelle Hollis, as well as allowing the Chamber of Commerce to use a building behind Town Hall, but no motions were made on either matter.
The meeting, which lasted just under 30 minutes, was adjourned at 6:40 p.m.
