At the town of Gore’s regular monthly meeting on Jan. 21, the board of trustees swiftly addressed a number of important matters, and were informed the town had been awarded a JAG grant for the police department.
One of the key actions taken during the meeting was the approval of an abatement at 201 N. Carlile St., owned by Helen Holeman. The abatement passed without objection.
The board also accepted the resignation of police officer Joleen McLaughlin, with all members in agreement.
A significant discussion followed on the approval of a new contract with Okie Guns and Gear LLC, which passed with unanimous support. The contract is expected to enhance local police operations.
In other news, Gore Town Clerk Lisa Settlemyre reported that the town had been awarded a JAG grant of nearly $8,000. This funding will be used to equip police vehicles with electronic ticketing systems and a new chrome Toughbook computer for officers.
Reports from the police and fire departments were also delivered. The police department logged 106 traffic stops and eight citations for the month of December, while the fire department responded to 24 calls, including 21 medical emergencies and two life flights.
During the Gore Public Works Authority meeting, Settlemyre reported a 19% water loss, 32 work orders, 12 locates, one water leak, and one sewer main cleaning for the previous month.
The trustees also approved a $12,500 invoice to Environmental Determination.
