BRANSON, Mo. — Former Vian Lady Wolverines softball player Kacie Gibbins helped the Arkansas Tech Golden Sun to a 4-1 start to the 2025 season last weekend at the Branson Leadoff Classic.
The Golden Sun defeated Drury 8-4 and Southwest Baptist 7-3 on Friday, then split Saturday’s games — beating Minnesota-Crookston 12-0 in five innings but losing 8-0 in six innings to Missouri Southern.
The Golden Sun ended the three-day event with a 3-2 victory over Emporia State University on Sunday.
In the win over Drury, Gibbins scored a run, while she singled with two runs batted in.
In the victory over Minnesota-Crookston, Gibbins went 3-for-3 with four RBIs, while going hitless at two atbats against Missouri Southern.
In the win over Emporia State, Gibbins had an RBI.
After playing a Tuesday doubleheader against Augustana for the home openers at Chartwell’s Women’s Sports Complex in Russellville, Ark., the Golden Sun will play in the two-day Alvy Early Memorial Classic in Bentonville, Ark., where they will play McKendree and the University of Texas-Tyler on Friday and Northeastern State and Northwest Missouri on Saturday.
