Gore’s Board of Education has appointed Nick Humphries as the new superintendent of Gore Public Schools following a special meeting on Jan. 29.
The board also held special meetings on Jan. 8, 21 and 22, in order to review applications, discuss applicants and narrow down candidates for the superintendent position.
On Jan. 29, the board convened once again to discuss the terms of contract concerning a specific individual before entering into an executive session to discuss entering a contract with the individual to serve as superintendent of schools. The next day, it was announced on the school district’s social media page that Humphries had been appointed to the position.
According to Humphries’ bio, he previously taught and coached at Gore Public Schools. He has spent the last 17 years at Wagoner Public Schools in various leadership roles, most recently as assistant superintendent, where he played a key role in advancing academic programs, improving operational efficiency, and fostering strong community partnerships.
With over 20 years of experience in education, Humphries’ career has reportedly been marked by a commitment to student success and a passion for creating opportunities for growth. He brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of innovation and collaboration to his new role.
Humphries and his wife of 22 years, Kristie, have two children, Abby, a sophomore at Oklahoma Baptist University, and Kael, a sophomore at Wagoner High School.
“I am excited to be back in Gore and look forward to serving the district as superintendent beginning this summer,” Humphries said.
Regular meeting
In the board’s regular monthly meeting on Jan. 13, the board unanimously approved all consent items listed on the agenda, as well as revising Board Policy GEK-EC.
Quotes for contract were accepted for sealer floor coating for the softball dressing room, and approval was made for the scope of work requirements to bid on bus barn surplus.
Superintendent Lucky McCrary and Principal James Bliss’s names were both removed from all school accounts/signature cards following the approval of a resolution directed to Armstrong Bank; and Principal Amanda Andrews’s name was then added as a signer of the activity fund account.
The board also held a discussion with CWA Architect on the new Lower Elementary building design.
