WILBURTON — Former Vian Lady Wolverines softball player Maisie Wells and her Eastern Oklahoma State College Lady Mountaineers are off to a 1-3 start as the season got underway last week with two home doubleheaders.
On Feb. 4, the Lady Mountaineers were swept by scores of 6-1 and 18-1 against Paris (Texas) Junior College, then they split Saturday afternoon’s home twinbill with Northeast Texas Community College — winning the opener 14-6 in five innings but losing 9-2 in the nightcap.
In the opening game against Paris, Wells was 1-for-3, while going 1-for-2 in the nightcap.
In the win over Northeast Texas, Wells was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, while going 1-for-4 in the loss to Northeast Texas.
The Lady Mountaineers will play four games, two this Friday and two on Saturday, next weekend in Texas.
