Former Vian Lady Wolverines softball player Kacie Gibbins and the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns went 3-1 last week.
In the Raising Cane’s Softball Festival on Friday in Edmond, the Golden Suns lost 12-8 to Washburn and beat Central Oklahoma 5-2 before Saturday’s two games against Rogers State and Nebraska-Kearney in Shawnee were canceled due to inclement weather.
On Sunday at Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex in Russellville, Ark., the Golden Suns swept a home doubleheader from Northeastern State by scores of 8-0 in five innings and 1-0.
In the loss to Washburn, Gibbins was 1-for-4 with a double, two runs batted in and a run scored.
In the win over UCO, Gibbins was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
In the Game 1 victory over NSU, Gibbins went 1-for-2 with an RBI, while going 1-for-2 with an RBI and a stolen base in Game 2.
For the season, Gibbins is hitting .318 (14for-44) with five doubles, 12 RBIs and three stolen bases.
Gibbins and the Golden Suns (8-7) will return to action in a three-game road series against Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva with a 1 p.m. doubleheader this Friday and a single noon game this Saturday.
