Memorial service for Samuel G. Short, 83, were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, at Mineral Springs Free Will Baptist Church in Muldrow.
Mr. Short was born on Dec. 3, 1942, to Grover and Clessie Choate Short. He passed away on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025, in Leadville, Colo.
He was a graduate of Vian High School and continued his education at Central State University. He worked as the National Accounting Manager for Hertz, eventually becoming the CFO SR VP of Sirloin Stockade for 10 years. He then took on the role of CFO, SR VP at KOKH Channel 25 in Oklahoma City, before advancing to Blair Broadcasting, and serving as the CFO SR VP for Telemundo in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He concluded his career as CFO SR VP of Jiffy Cash and Ashton Gardens in Houston before retiring in Clearwater, Fla.
He enjoyed scuba diving, wind sailing, snow skiing, fishing, and hunting. He was also a member of the Cherokee Nation.
Survivors are a son, Cory R. Short of Leadville; daughter, Lisa M. Treat of Muldrow; ex-wives Gina Gibson of Oklahoma City and Janie Bagley of Sallisaw; and other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Paul D. Short and Grover Short Jr.
