WILBURTON — Former Vian Lady Wolverines softball player Maisie Wells and the Eastern Oklahoma State College Lady Mountaineers ended the week with a home sweep of Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College on Sunday afternoon by scores of 12-0 in five innings and 4-3.
The week started with a pair of home losses to the University of Arkansas- Rich Mountain on Feb. 17 by a pair of 2-0 scores.
In the opener against Coffeyville, Wells was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two runs batted in, while going hitless in two at-bats in the nightcap.
In the opener against UA-Rich Mountain, Wells was hitless in three at-bats, while going 0-for-2 in the nightcap.
Through 13 games this season, Wells is hitting .314 with two triples, three RBIs and eight runs scored.
Wells and the Lady Mountaineers (6-7), who had last Thursday’s road doubleheader snowed out against Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College, was slated to return to action Tuesday against both Crowder College and Fort Scott (Kan.) Community College in Fort Scott, Kan., before playing in the Branson (Mo.) Showtime Classic against Southeastern Community College and Moberly (Mo.) Area Community College this Friday and facing Southwestern Illinois and Three Rivers Community College this Saturday.
