The Vian Wrestling Club saw 16 members qualify for this weekend’s Oklahoma Kids Wrestling Association State Tournament by placing at the Southeast Regional Tournament, which took place Feb. 15 at Paul Post Field House.
Joely Hunt won the regional championship at 91 pounds in the girls age 12-and-younger division. Brody Buttery (110 pounds, age 12-andyounger division), Bronc Sumpter (90, age 10-and-younger), Madalynn Turman (82, girls age 10-and-younger division) and Keaton Gregory (55, age 6-andyounger) all were regional runners-up.
Rocky Ford (105 pounds, age 12-andyounger division), Lex Branham (140, age 10-and-younger), Daxton Stewart (76, age 10-and-younger), Thomas Sandlin (58, age 8-andyounger), Luke Sandlin (55, age 8-and-younger) and Klasen Couch (60, age 6-and-younger) all finished third.
Jestin Rosson (73 pounds, age 12-andyounger division), Zayn Vinson (73, age 10-andyounger) and Knox Branham (55, age 6-andyounger) were fifth, while Bryson Richey (98, age 15-and-younger) and Gage Hines (84, age 12-and-younger) were sixth.
The OKWA State Tournament took place Friday and Saturday at Oklahoma City’s Jim Norick State Fair Arena.
