Last week was a rough week for former Vian Lady Wolverine Maisie Wells and her Eastern Oklahoma State College Lady Mountaineers as they went 1-5.
The lone win was a 5-3 nine-inning victory over Moberly (Mo.) Area Community College on Friday at the Branson (Mo.) Showtime Classic.
The week started out by the Lady Mountaineers losing 1-0 to Crowder College and 3-2 to host Fort Scott Community College on Feb. 25 in Fort Scott, Kan.
At the Branson Showtime Classic, the Lady Mountaineers lost 9-1 to Southeastern Community College on Friday and lost both games Saturday — 14-3 in six innings to Southwestern Illinois College and 3-2 to Three Rivers Community College.
In the win over Moberly, Wells went 3-for-5 with a run scored.
On Feb. 25, Wells was 1-for-2 against Crowder and was 2-for-4 against Fort Scott.
In Friday’s loss to Southeastern Community College, Wells singled in her only at-bat.
On Saturday, Wells tripled in three at-bats against Southwestern Illinois, while she hit her first-ever college home run.
Through 19 games, Wells is hitting .364 with three triples, a homer, four runs batted in and 11 runs scored.
Wells and the Lady Mountaineers (7-12) will meet Murray State College in a 1 p.m. Thursday doubleheader in Wilburton, then travel to Parsons, Kan., to face Labette Community College in a 2 p.m. Saturday twinbill.
