MAGNOLIA, Ark. — Former Vian Lady Wolverine softball player Kacie Gibbins and the Arkansas Tech University Golden Suns were swept at the hands of host Southern Arkansas last weekend.
The Golden Suns dropped Friday’s series opener 3-2, then were swept in Saturday’s dou-bleheader by scores of 4-3 and 4-2.
In Friday’s loss, Gibbins was 1-for-3 for the Golden Suns (10-11 overall, 2-4 in Great American Conference play).
In Saturday’s opener, Gibbins was hitless in two at-bats but scored a run, while going hitless in three at-bats in the nightcap.
Through 21 games, Gibbins is hitting .306 with six doubles, nine runs scored, 14 runs batted in and four stolen bases.
The Golden Suns will return to action next weekend at home as they welcome ArkansasMonticello to Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex in Russellville, Ark. There will be a single game at 5 p.m. Friday and a noon doubleheader on Saturday.
