OKLAHOMA CITY — Vian Wolverines heavyweight wrestler Garritt Hunt was the state runner-up in Class 3A.
At the Class 3A State Tournament which took place Friday and Saturday at Jim Norick State Fair Arena, Hunt lost Saturday night’s title match 3-2 to Jay’s Konway Williamson 3-2.
Hunt reached the title match with a statequarterfinal pinfall win over Vinita’s Dylan Allen in 38 seconds, then defeated Cashion’s Matthew Stockton by pinfall in 4:30 to make it to the finals.
The other two local wrestlers who made the Class 3A State Tournament, Vian 157-pounder Gunner Richey and Gore heavyweight Kaydin McCartney, each lost their respective wrestle-in match.
Richey lost 8-4 to Watonga’s Ayden Perez, while McCartney lost by a major decision of 11-3 to Hinton’s Derrick Pratt.
