It was a good week last week for former Vian Lady Wolverine Maisie Wells and the Eastern Oklahoma State College Lady Mountaineers softball team.
After splitting Thursday’s home doubleheader against Murray State College in Wilburton as they won the opener 8-4 before losing the nightcap 13-3, the Lady Mountaineers swept a road doubleheader from host Labette Community College by scores of 10-2 and 15-7 on Saturday in Parsons, Kan.
In the win over Murray State College, Wells scored once while being hitless in three at-bats, while hitting a double and scoring once in the loss to the Lady Aggies.
In the opener against Labette, Wells went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored, while hitting 4-for-4 with a double, her second home run of the season, four runs scored and three runs batted in.
Through 22 games, Wells is batting .397 with three doubles, three triples, two homers, seven RBIs, 19 runs scored and five stolen bases.
Wells and the Lady Mountaineers (10-12), after playing a home doubleheader against Connors State College on Tuesday in Wilburton, will play a 2 p.m. Thursday road twinbill against Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa, then will return home to face Northeastern Oklahoma A&M for a 1 p.m. Saturday doubleheader.
