Former Vian Lady Wolverines softball player Kacie Gibbins and her Arkansas Tech University Golden Suns went 2-3 last week.
The Golden Suns won two of three weekend series games from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, taking both Saturday games by scores of 4-1 and 8-2 before losing Sunday’s series finale 3-2.
The week began with a pair of losses March 11 on the road to Harding University in Searcy, Ark., by scores of 4-1 and 4-0.
In the Game 1 win on Saturday over Southeastern Oklahoma State, Gibbins was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs scored and a run batted in, while going 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored in the nightcap.
In Sunday’s loss to Southeastern, Gibbins was 1-for-4 with a run scored.
In the opener against Harding, Gibbins was hitless in two at-bats with an RBI, while going 1-for-3 in the nightcap.
Through 29 games, Gibbins is hitting .310 with nine doubles, a solo homer, 18 RBIs, 16 runs scored and four stolen bases.
Gibbins and the Golden Suns (14-15 overall, 6-8 in Great American Conference play) were slated to return to action Tuesday with a road doubleheader against Northeastern State University in Tahlequah before returning home this weekend for a three-game home series against East Central University at Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex in Russellville, Ark., with a 3 p.m. Friday doubleheader and a noon Saturday game.
