Centenarians of Oklahoma recently honored Polly Lackey of Sallisaw, inducting her into the Centenarians of Oklahoma Hall of Fame in a ceremony at First Baptist Church. Lackey, who drove herself to church earlier the same morning, commemorated her 100th birthday, which was last Monday. Lackey is a Cherokee Native American, and was Salutatorian for the Sallisaw Class of 1942. She had a career as a secretary/ bookkeeper until her retirement in 1994. She shared these words of wisdom: “Remember, whatever you do has consequences, either a good one or a bad one.”
