Former Vian Lady Wolverines softball player Kacie Gibbins and the Arkansas Tech University Golden Suns swept last weekend’s Great American Conference series from East Central University of Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex in Russellville, Ark. The Golden Suns swept Friday’s doubleheader by scores of 6-3 and 1-0, then took Saturday’s game 6-5.
The week started off with a pair of road wins over Northeastern State University by scores of 8-2 and 9-5 on March 18 in Tahlequah.
In Friday’s Game 1 win over ECU, Gibbins was 2-for-4 with a double and a run batted in, while going hitless in three at-bats in the nightcap.
In Saturday’s victory over ECU, Gibbins was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.
In the Game 1 win over NSU, Gibbins tripled, scored twice and had two stolen bases, while she singled, scored once and had two stolen bases in the nightcap.
Through 34 games, Gibbins is hitting .317 with 11 doubles, a triple, a home run, 21 runs batted in, 20 runs scored and six stolen bases.
Gibbins and the Golden Suns (19-15 overall, 9-8 in GAC Conference play) will return action in a home three-game weekend GAC series against Ouachita Baptist University at Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex, with a 5 p.m. Friday game and a noon Saturday doubleheader, before traveling to meet Rogers State College for a 2 p.m. twinbill next Tuesday in Claremore.
