WILBURTON — Former Vian softball player Maisie Wells and the Eastern Oklahoma State College Lady Mountaineers started last week by sweeping their archrivals, the Carl Albert state College Lady Vikings by scores of 9-0 and 8-0 on March 31 as each game ended after five innings as they reached run-rule status.
However, the rest of the week of action last week was won by Mother Nature as Thursday’s road doubleheader against Seminole State College and Saturday’s home twinbill against Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa.
The home NOCTonkawa doubleheader was slated to be made up Tuesday afternoon, thus postponing the originally- scheduled home twinbill against Fort Scott (Kan.) Community College from Tuesday until 1 p.m. April 29.
The road games against Seminole State College have been rescheduled for 2 p.m. next Tuesday in Seminole.
In the opener against CASC, Wells went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a run batted in, while going 1-for-2 with two runs scored in the nightcap.
Through 36 games, Wells is hitting .400 with three doubles, three triples, six home runs, 16 RBIs, 29 runs scored and eight stolen bases.
On Thursday, the Lady Mountaineers (2313) will travel to meet Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College for a 1 p.m. doubleheader before playing a road twinbill against Connors State College at 2 p.m. Saturday in Warner.
