Former Vian Wolverines softball player Kacie Gibbins and the Arkansas Tech University Golden Suns dropped a pair of doubleheaders last week.
The Golden Suns were swept on April 1 at Rogers State College in Claremore by scores of 4-1 and 8-1, then suffered two Great American Conference road losses Sunday against Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Ark., by scores of 8-0 and 4-3 in nine innings.
In the opener against Rogers State, Gibbins was 1-for-3, while going 1-for-2 in the nightcap.
In the opener against Henderson State, Gibbins went hitless in three at-bats, while going 2-for-5 with a run batted in and a stolen base.
Through 41 games this season, Gibbins is hitting .339 with 13 doubles, a triple, a home run, 22 RBIs, 22 runs scored and eight stolen bases.
Gibbins and the Golden Suns (22-19 overall, 12-10 in GAC play) were slated to wrap up the series with Henderson State on Monday in Arkadelphia and entertain Harding University on Tuesday for a single GAC game before closing out this week with a home three-game GAC series against Southern Nazarene University at Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex in Russellville, Ark. There will be a 5 p.m. single game on Friday against SNU followed by a noon doubleheader on Saturday before the Golden Suns welcome Delta State to town for a 2 p.m. twinbill next Monday.
