Former Vian Lady Wolverines softball player Kacie Gibbins and the Arkansas Tech University Golden Suns split an early week home doubleheader with Delta State before being swept by former teammate Greenlee Wells and the Oklahoma Baptist University Bison late in the week in Shawnee.
On April 14 at Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex in Russellville, Ark., the Golden Suns took the nightcap from Delta State 5-2 after losing the opener 3-1.
On Thursday in Shawnee, the Bison beat the Golden Suns 4-2, then took both games Friday — winning 8-2 and 4-1.
In the opener against Delta State, Gibbins was 2-for-4 with her 14th double and a run scored, while going hitless in four at-bats in the nightcap.
In Game 1 against OBU, Gibbins went 1-for-3 with her 15th double. In Friday’s opener, she was 1-for-3 with her 16th double, while going hitless in three atbats in the nightcap.
Through 51 games this season, Gibbins is hitting .318 with 16 doubles, two triples, a home run, 26 runs scored, 23 runs batted in and eight stolen bases.
The Golden Suns (26-25 overall, 15-15 in Great American Conference play), will entertain conference rival Southwestern Oklahoma State University for a threegame series at Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex, with a 3 p.m. Friday doubleheader and a noon Saturday contest.
